High Park

Although he was sick Saturday afternoon, Minh was tough enough to join me for a stroll through High Park, where we both used to run during our high school cross-country years. We came across a zoo that neither of us knew existed there.

An elderly fella stopped his red pickup while I was taking these pictures and asked if I was taking it for a paper. I said it was just for my blog, and he told me the truck is his, and that he would be buying a new front to it this Monday.
He was a very nice man but I was very suspicious because this stretch of Logan has long been a dumping ground for old vehicles. Anyways, his last words to me: "Don't call the cops on me. That's my truck." Hahaha...

Need a lift, pilgrim?

This is taken from the sidecar of my classmate John Harper's Ural. It's quite the chick magnet... he was going to drive me home from George Brown, and as I was settling into the sidecar - camera in hand - and even before we'd moved an inch, we heard a commotion behind us. It was three girls ooh-ing the bike (or maybe they were ooh-ing him, or, as I like to think of it, maybe they were ooh-ing me). Then they posed.
Yah.
Turning onto Gerrard Street East from River Street.

Harbourfront
Spent a sunny Saturday afternoon down by the city's waterfront.
What's this about phallic symbols?

This man stood in this position for five seconds... I didn't like his pose but I got impatient so I snapped away.

The lighting inside the Harbourfront Centre made this one easy.

I was lucky the woman was wearing a white coat, because I think that's what makes this shot.

People walk back and forth in that green thing... see if you can spot one!

This is right on Front Street... from the ground the wall of this condo looks like a Matrix explosion.

Feeding time
Mid afternoon, Nathan Phillips Square, where lovers, families and tourists gather to enjoy some early springtime sunshine and share fatty foods with the birds.
In other words, a perfect picture place.
Where there's food, there are fights...

41C Keele bus... somewhere north of Eglinton
5:47 p.m.
The woman on the left had Homer on one side and some pre-school kid on the other. My jaw dropped as I sat down and saw this because I thought it would have made such a beautiful shot. Of course, this being a 3/4 full bus, I was too chicken to ask for a shot of all three.
I pulled my tiny Optio out anyways and tried sneaking a pic of just Homer... but because I was facing west in the late afternoon the sunlight shining into the lens made the image far too bright to do anything.
After a few blocks fidgeting with my thumbs, I saw the woman begin to gather her stuff together. Cussing to myself, I scrambled to sneak just one single shot in, and just as I clicked the shutter the woman holding the yellow bag got up, adding much needed movement, at the same time the bus went into the shadow of a building... taking care of the lighting.
Viola!
For context, here is the shot I took a split second afterwards.
